Harley® Brakes Near Laurel
Harley® Brakes Commonly Asked Questions
On Harley® bikes, how do you bleed a rear brake?
To do so, follow the steps below: Step 1. Locate the bleed valve on your bike- it should be by your rear brake caliper. Remove the caliper's rubber cap and take one end of your clear plastic tubing over the nipple of your bleed valve. Afterwards, routethe other end of the tube to your jar.
Step 2. Next, on your rear brake master cylinder, take off the reservoir cover. Take a 4mm socket and remove the pair of bolts used to secure your master cylinder's cover. Then, you will be able to remove the reservoir cover and releasetherubber diaphragm out of your master cylinder (if it doesn't automatically come offwith the reservoir). Only then will you be able to top off your reservoir with fresh DOT 4 brake fluid.
Step 3. Takea9mm wrench and turn it clockwise, about ¼ of a turn,to open the bleed valve. Simultaneously, step onyour rear-brake pedal down in order to hold it in position. Then, the brake fluid should fillinto your plastic tubing. Be careful to check for any air bubbles in the tubing. Before you release the brake pedal, make sure to first close the bleed valve (this time, turning it counterclockwise), thenrelease your brake pedal.
Step 4. Open your bleed valve once moreand press down on yourrear brake pedal to stream more of your brake fluid into theplastic tubing. Then, close thevalve and release your brake pedal. You should repeat this step as many times as necessary to completely fill your reservoir for the brake master cylinder with the DOT 4 fluid (as well as get rid of the bubbles in your tube).
Step 5. After Step 4 has been repeated to satisfaction, close your bleed valve and pull out your plastic tubing. Press therubber cap backon the nipple of your bleed valve. Slowly pump your bike's brake pedal to fully remove any trapped air bubbles within the master cylinder. Then, place back the rubber diaphragm into the master cylinder and put on the reservoir cover. Lastly, take your 4 mm socket tighten the bolts.

I forgot to hit post on this one from 2018 LOL!Went to this dealership several times in the last month. Met Jeremy on my first visit and he was very knowledgeable about the Harleys. Came back again for a Demo Ride on the 14th of April. Returned a week ago and saw a Road King I wanted. Jeremy walked me through the purchase and got it for less then expected and a sweet deal. You need a Harley, go see Jeremy!! You won’t be disappointed.

I have to say I have been to many Harley Davidson Stores but this one is amazing Dina was absolutely amazing even when she couldn’t be there when I bought my bike. She helped me from home because personal issues she had to deal with the day I came in, she walked me through it and had me meet with another sales person. But she really helped buy the bike I wanted and even contacted me when the bike I wanted came in. So a huge shout out to this amazing sales lady she is awesome I recommend everyone go here truly amazing thank you…
