Harley® Service FAQs
Where will I find my schedule for service maintenance?
Each vehicle has a particular schedule for maintenance. Your specific schedule can be found in the back of your service manual or owner's manual. To find out whether your car should be serviced, you can also contact Service Department.
Do you need a lot of maintenance for Harley-Davidson®'s motorcycles?
Harley-Davidson® is a powerful bike. It needs the same degree of servicing as many other types of bikes. Unfortunately, many users are ignorant that Harley-Davidson® waste more time in the repair shop than on the track. This is a misconception spread by brand critics who barely own Harley-Davidson®'s motorcycles.
How does DYNO tuning work?
When a motorbike rolls off the assembly line, it is programmed to run on stock parts even in some environmental conditions. DYNO custom tuning adjusts your bike to the actual specification components that you have built in your particular setting to provide maximum performance.
How can I get my motorbike tires to last longer?
Check the tires for the right inflation pressure at least once per week. You may check your owner's manual or call us out. Inspect for signs of uneven wear and breakdown. Risk assessment always makes a difference.
How regular do I need my motorbike to be serviced?
Your motorcycle must be serviced every 5,000 miles following your first 1,000-mile service.
Are Harley-Davidson® motorcycles costly for maintenance?
Given the stories you've heard about Harley-Davidson®, you might believe that these bikes ought to cost you a fortune just to be maintained.
When would my tires have to be changed?
When they reach under 3 3/2nds, tires must be changed, especially when you see holes, road debris, dry rot, some metal or other punctures.
What kind of battery charger do you suggest?
Only the Harley-Davidson® SuperSmart battery tender is recommended for off-season storage and all other charging use on this motorcycle. This is the only certified Harley-Davidson® charger that can keep your battery powered and secure your battery warranty. Standard and trickle chargers could be used for only short amounts of time as they can overwhelm and destroy the battery if used for extended periods. Don't stress if you choose to use a trickle charger. We're selling new batteries, too.
Is the official Harley-Davidson® service manual worthwhile?
It's a perfect investment for someone who wants to change fuels, add accessories, or simply want to know their bike better. They are much more detailed than any after-market guide. These manuals are available for all latest and older versions as well.
How often do I need to get my engine oil checked?
Before any trip, you must check your oil engine. It can be evaluated cold, but if the bike is resting for longer time, let it run for 3 to 5 minutes, then check it out.

I took the Riding Academy course this Monday. In my opinion this course is a must for anyone that has no experience or has not ridden a motorcycle in a few years, in my case it has been 30 years. The classroom part of the course was both entertaining and informational. This was because the instructor, Debby, made it fun and helped everyone in the class to understand the material. Debby was so nice, friendly and respectful which made it, I felt, easy to learn and understand the material. She was so willing to go the extra mile, that she stayed after class to help me and two other students to get a better understanding of the concepts of riding a motorcycle safely. On the next two days at the range, I learned and became more confident and knowledgeable in riding motorcycle safely and had fun doing it. I felt that Debby wanted all the students to learn, have fun and be safe. I could see that she has a passion for teaching, which helped me, and I know from talking to others, learn the lessons easily and safely. Her instructions and her riding demonstrations helped me and others to grasp the concepts for each lesson.I was glad that I took this course and that she was my instructor, and I would highly recommend her to anyone that wants to learn to ride a motorcycle.

Recently purchased a 2019 RK from HD of Baltimore. Great bunch of guys. Started by taking a class at the HD training academy. Even though I have owned and been on motorcycles in the past, the information was a great refresher and I walked away a better and safer rider for it.Knowing that I wanted to get into a new motorcycle, I met with Justin Wright, one of the sales guys in Baltimore. Justine was great to work with and steered me in the right direction. I would highly recommend stopping by and seeing him. I cannot say enough good about my experience. Go see Justin and become part of the best families around. The Harley Davidson family.
